2/21/2014 2 Comments What does the birdie logo mean? There are many forms of art. There is painting and sculpture. Sketching and drawing, as well many other forms. Some consider music and dance a form of art too. Tattoo artist fall into the category of artist as well. Able to take needle and ink and use the human body as a canvas, I admire the work they do, because just like any artist, a tattooist must have skill, knowledge and passion for the work they do and create.
When I was growing up, I grew up in a traditional, "old school" household, where my dad was against any piercings (besides my ears) and definitely no tattoos. But I also got away with a lot, and so at 18 I got a small tattoo of a dragonfly on my back. Some people have meaning behind why they have a tattoo, or use something symbolic, but each to their own. My tattoos are discreet and have followed the theme of animals, my greatest passion. I had my flock of birds tattoo done in 2012, and they have the most significant to me. My family have always been close. We've been through the good, bad, ugly and awful together. But anything that's ever happened has always pulled us closer and made us stronger. We may argue at times, but defend each other fiercely when others say a bad word about us. We tell each other we love one another without judgement. We keep in contact even when worlds apart. We laugh and cry together. And the beauty of it, is our family grows not just adding others to the flock, but on the inside too. Not one day goes by without the support and love I feel from my family, and I wouldn't trade any of them for all the treasures in the world...they are the most precious treasure. My bird tattoo was inspired by my family. I have one bird for each of my immediate family members, so seven in total. I have it on my left shoulder, just as the saying goes to "wear your heart on your sleeve", so my family are my heart. And we are a flock, not scattered, but a unit. A family unit. No matter where one family member is, the others know where they are, or shall follow. And so, I have used my tattoo as my logo, transferring one art form to another. Applying the strength, love and support into what I truly love to do...photography.
