our baby p = rylin ashe

Having a baby changes your world they said... but we never comprehended how this little human would make our lives so much better & fulfilled! Pushing us to grow, challenging us to be better humans for her, bettering ourselves as people and as her parents, teaching us patience, understanding and an abundance of love. We've learnt to take advice from mommies and daddies, and how to pass on our experiences to other newbie parents.

There is so much 'they' don't tell you when you become a parent, that doesn't come in any 'How to be a parent for fools' book... how to deal with those poonami's when visiting friends and family with your newborn and a sh-plosion has happened (and still happening!) when changing that nappy. How mommies go through so much hair loss that there's a fear of going bald and never have it grow back. The initial fear you feel in the need to protect your child from everything, that it can almost feel debilitating to the point of not wanting to leave your protective home bubble. That mommies boobies can leak at the sound of any baby crying, not just your own! How to cope with mastitis pains, fevers and shivers, while still trying to feed your unlatching baby on engorged boobies to provide them that 'liquid gold'. That you can go through all the needs and wants of a nappy change, feeding, burping, cuddling, skin-on-skin, cat nap & you still have a crying baby and figure out she just needs a bit of help with pooping!

With all that you can only learn once you have your own, all the beautiful things you can't comprehend until you have a kid outweigh the hard days. Your love bubble when your little human enters the world is euphoric and the smell of a newborn baby is delicious (the amount of times I held Rylin on my chest just smelling her head is uncountable). How babies grow with every blink of your eyes! How you treasure each milestone... Smiles & giggles, reaching for your face, holding your finger while they sleep, recognizing their mama & dada's voices, grabbing their toes, rolling on their own, sitting (& we haven't even gotten to the big ones yet!)... and watching their perfect & innocent little characters develop, knowing that they are your heart outside your chest is a glorious, indescribable feeling.

Being Rylin Ashe's mama is undoubtedly the best & most rewarding job I have ever had.

Because I have a bit of catching up to do on posting, I'll put up a series of Rylin... starting with an image of her 4 week old self below:
